Ameles persa is the only species of Ameles recorded from Caucasus. It is known from Armenia, about 130 km from the locality of this specimen, and the occurrence of this species in Georgia was likely. This species is easily recognizable by the long and erect pubescence of walking legs and short pronotum. Occurrence of another species, Ameles heldreichi, in the caucasian area cannot be excluded. However, this species has shorter legs pubescence and proportionally shorter pronotum. (c) marcovilla
