Frogs from Georgia belong to the evolutionary lineage found from Asia Minor to Central Asia and distinct from the eastern European lineage. However, the differences between the lineages are minor compared with those between R. ridibunda and green frogs found in the Middle East, North Africa, or Iberian Peninsula
