GBD Remarks:

Endemic species of the forested areas of the western part of Caucasus Isthmus. Lives in the forest belt (both plain and mountain forests), occasionally found above the timberline. Habitat: forest litter, but also lower part of rock outcrops. Egg-laying species. Genetically distinct in Darevskia, yet some specimens are very close in structure of MtDNA to D. mixta (Fu et al., 1980). Phylogenetic position yet unclear.
