Until recently, the Caucasian population of slow worm was considered as a subspecies of Anguis fragilis, a species widespread in Western Eurasia. The species is found all over Georgia, except arid landscapers along riv. Mtkvari and its tributaries. Is a typical forest species, although occurs in uplands and humid lowlands in the west of the country.
